Overview

Mount Dhaulagiri is the seventh tallest mountain in the world with 8167 meters height. Dhaulagiri is the last mountain to be ascended among the 8000+ meters mountains in Nepal. The term Dhaulagiri is derived from two Sanskrit words “Dhawala” ad “Giri- which means White and Mountain respectively.

Dhaulagiri has five major summits – Dhaulagiri I -8167 meters), Dhaulagiri II -7751 meters, Dhaulagiri III -7715 meters, Dhaulagiri IV -7661 meters, and Dhaulagiri V -7618 meters. The first successful ascent of Dhaulagiri was made on 13th May 1960 by the Swiss-Austrian expedition team led by Fritz Moravec which included Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Ernst Forrer, Albin Schelbert, Nyima Dorje Sherpa and Nawang Dorje Sherpa.

The expedition takes you through some popular villages in the region. Something one should try is a special apple Brandy, Marpha, named after the place itself. Mount Dhaulagiri Expedition offered by Legend of Himalaya, is a perilous journey. As a result of which, the safety of our clients is of paramount importance to us. The expedition team will be led by a Government of Nepal certified guides and Sherpas, who will work to ensure that the journey is safe and comfortable for all the expedition team. With the goal of providing the best possible Himalayan experience, we work tirelessly to make your expedition an unforgettable one.   We highly recommend that you ask us all the questions which you think might be prudent for the trip. Thus helping us plan better to provide better service.
