Overview

Mt Makalu is the fifth tallest mountain in the world at  an impressive height of 8485 m. It lies in the Everest region of Nepal bordering China. Mount Makalu lies only 20 kilometers east of the tallest mountain in the world – Mount Everest. The name “Makalu” means “Black God”. Mount Makalu Expedition, provided by Legend of Himalayan is considered one of the toughest expeditions currently offered by the Tourism board of Nepal.

Makalu is considered to be one of the most difficult and dangerous mountain expeditions to embark upon throughout the world. The mountain is filled with steep and knife-shaped jagged ridges – making it the toughest mountains to ascend. We at Legend of Himalaya, are very cognizant of our client and crew’s safety, thus we have adopted all the necessary precautions to minimize fatalities during our expedition trips. Our experienced guides with the help of cutting edge weather forecasting equipment, along with their keen intuition devise the expedition schedule – in accordance to the obtained data. During this expedition you will not only be able to climb the toughest mountain – Makalu, but you will also get a chance to visit – Makalu Barun National park. The national park is filled with an assortment of different flora and fauna – any nature lover will be thrilled to experience.

The first successful ascent was completed by Lionel Terrey and John Couzy on 15 May 1955. The next day, John Franco, Guido Magnone and Sardar Gyaltsen Norbu also reached the top of Mount Makalu.

  • Garbage deposit 4000.usd sharing of the total person and deposit fee will be not refunded if the client climber don’t take back their garbage to Kathmandu. this is for noly permit sharing group not for package group
