Pumori Peak is easily distinguishable by its conspicuous pyramid structure. Pumori can be clearly from Kala Pathar which is also an amazing view point for Mount Everest.
Pumori was named by George Mallory. Pumori means “Mountain Daughter” in Sherpa language. The first successful ascent of Pumori was made on 17th May 1962 by Gerhard Lenser and his team. Pumori expedition offers walking through the enchanting trails of Everest Base Camp exploring rural mountain life and unique Sherpa cultures not to mention the alluring views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and many more.
Even at 7161 metres height, Pumori expedition is a technically difficult climb. Climbing experience and high physical fitness is expected for this expedition. The expedition begins with a magnificent flight to Lukla viewing some of tallest mountains in the world like Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Cho Oyu and so on.
The best season for Pumori Expedition is Spring when the weather is clearer giving your easier path and beautiful views of the mountains. You can also get to view Rhododendron – the national flower of Nepal in this trip if you opt for in the Spring. If you happen to miss the Spring season, the Autumn season is also great for this trip.
